HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR CITIZENSHIP?
In almost all instances, a citizenship application may only be submitted once an individual has acquired permanent residence status and has been a permanent resident for at least 5 years.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO OBTAIN CITIZENSHIP?
There are two main processes for submitting a citizenship application:
• The applicant needs to submit an application for “Proof of Permanent Residency”. This is basically a confirmatory process where the Department would determine if the permanent residence status was correctly accorded and that all conditions of the PR permit have been complied with.
• Once the Department issues a certificate as proof of the residency status of the applicant, the next process can be followed which is the actual submission of the citizenship application.
